Voyager Model 1:35 photo-etch for the M551A1 Sheridan

An accessory for modelers of military vehicles in 1:35 scale from Voyager Model. It is not a kit: it is a set of photo-etched metal parts with which you replace the coarser plastic components on a model, above all grilles, handles, covers and small sheet-metal elements. The set is cut for one particular Sheridan kit, which has to be bought separately. The photo-etch shows up most on the grilles and the sheet-metal covers, where a plastic part never has the right thickness.

The real subject

The M551 Sheridan was an American light tank designed so that it could be dropped by parachute and could swim. Because of its weight limit it had an aluminum hull and, instead of a conventional gun, it carried a short weapon of 152 millimeter caliber from which a guided missile could also be launched. It served in Vietnam and with airborne units, and the A1 version differs from the basic one in changes to the sighting and stabilization equipment.

Use

• cut the parts from the fret with a sharp knife on a hard surface; do not break them out
• make the bends over a metal ruler or in a photo-etch bender
• glue with super glue applied with the tip of a wire, not straight from the bottle
• cut off the plastic parts the photo-etch replaces and sand the area flat
• degrease the metal before painting and give it a primer for metal

The set is intended for more experienced modelers. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
