The floor holds the whole interior scene together: it decides where the figures stand, how one moves through the room and how far from the viewer the action takes place. A worn plank surface also gives the scene an age that is hard to reach by painting a bare base. This set offers an old wooden floor in 1:35 scale.
In 1:35 scale an adult figure is about five centimeters tall. An area of 10x15 cm will therefore hold two or three figures and a piece of furniture without the scene looking crowded. Lay the floor out before the walls and leave an overhang around it that is later trimmed to fit the base exactly.
The most important thing is a flat substrate, because every wave shows on the finished surface and can no longer be hidden. Offer the part up dry, choose the direction of the planks relative to the front edge and only then bond it to the base. Hide the transition to the walls under a baseboard, rubble or furniture. Place small items along the walls and in the corners and leave the middle clear, where the eye travels. The manufacturer's instructions give the exact gluing procedure and any surface treatment.
The set suits scenes from abandoned houses, attics and barns, workshop vignettes and a single figure on a small base. It also serves as a surface under displayed equipment or under a stripped-down vehicle, where the floor plays the part of the setting on its own.
