This plastic kit in 1:35 scale from Dragon captures the German Pz.Kpfw. IV medium tank in the Ausf. J version of the late production of the Second World War. The model builds on the proven Smart Kit concept with finely rendered parts and is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The particular boxing corresponds to the production batch of the period from August to September 1944.
The Pz.Kpfw. IV was the most widespread German medium tank of the Second World War and served on every front from the beginning to the end of the conflict. The Ausf. J version represented a simplified late production with an emphasis on easier and faster manufacture. Typical of this period are the solid steel Schürzen side plates, which preceded the later Thoma type wire mesh screens.
Assemble and paint the running gear before closing the hull. Finish the tracks separately and fit them only after the running gear has been painted. Late German Dunkelgelb camouflage with green and brown mottling makes the base; washes in the recesses and dust or mud pigments on the underside and the tracks add depth. The photo-etched parts benefit from an airbrush and fine cleaning up.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
