A bridge is one of the few elements that can give a diorama its action by itself. It determines where the vehicles move, where a column stops and where the scene breaks into a second level, so it offers the viewer a view from below and from the side as well. In Eastern Europe, bridging small watercourses and gullies also often decided whether equipment got through or had to make a lengthy detour, so the action gathers around it naturally.
The set brings a bridge in 1:35 scale, that is in the size that matches ordinary models of military equipment. The range of parts and the order of assembly are given in the manufacturer's instructions. During the build, assemble the structure dry first and only then plan out the base, because the bridge determines the size of the whole scene and is hard to add afterward.
Cut any excess material away with a sharp blade, level the surfaces and choose the glue according to the material of the parts. Before painting, wash the element, degrease it and seal it with a base color. Paint from a dark base toward lighter layers: first darken the whole and then pull out the edges and the surfaces exposed to rain and wear with a dry brush. The most important place in the whole structure is the transition between the bridge and the ground, so disguise the joint with drifted earth, grass and rutted tracks, so that the element does not look merely laid on the base. A dark wash into the joints and light dust on the horizontal surfaces will give the structure its weight.
The set suits builders of dioramas who want to build a scene around one prominent element and give vehicles a reason why they are standing just there. Models of vehicles, figures, a base, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
