Responsibility details are not available.
A set of resin wheels for a model of the German Trippel amphibious car in 1:35 scale. The castings replace the plastic wheels from the kit and bring a crisper tread pattern, legible lettering on the sidewall and the flattening of the tire under the weight of the vehicle. This variant carries the tread pattern of the tire maker Continental. The set is not a model of the vehicle; it is an addition to an existing kit.
The amphibious cars of the designer Hans Trippel of Molsheim were built from the end of the 1930s and from 1938 were also delivered to the German army. Unlike the later and far more widespread VW Type 166, this was a larger and heavier machine with a closed boat hull. Only a few hundred were made, so period photographs are rare. Tires were supplied at the time by several German makers and the tread pattern differed noticeably between them.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water to get rid of the mold release agent, or the paint will not hold on them. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the face with abrasive paper, protecting your breathing. Glue the wheels with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Do not paint the tire black; a dark gray with a hint of brown looks truer. Then dust the flattened part of the tread with a light pigment.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
