The Sd.Kfz.182 is a German heavy tank of the end of the Second World War, known as the Königstiger. The first vehicles built carried a turret with a rounded front plate, known by the designation Porsche, while later machines received a turret with a flat front and a differently arranged mantlet. The difference is clearly visible on a model, and the turret you choose also governs which particular vehicles you can build.
The set fills in the inside of the vehicle, which an ordinary kit does not have. It comes into its own above all where the model is to be shown open, that is with a hatch raised, the turret roof removed or as a cutaway. What exactly the box contains and which kit it is intended for are given in the instructions from the manufacturer. Try the parts dry before gluing, because the inside is cramped and the order of assembly really matters here.
Paint the inside before you close the hull, because many surfaces will be out of reach later. A light base on the inner walls helps: there is little light in a closed space and a dark shade swallows the detail you have painstakingly fitted. Pick out the edges and use dark shading in the corners so that the space gains depth. Leave the small touches of color, that is the instruments, the labels and the wiring, until the very end. Before you close the hull, photograph the finished inside; only part of it will be visible on the model afterwards and the photograph will be the only record of the work you did.
The box contains the parts of the set. It does not contain the tank kit, paints or glue, unless stated otherwise.
