The accessory refines a model of the late form of the light half-track vehicle in the reconnaissance version with an automatic cannon. It replaces above all the thin sheets and the small hardware. The kit to carry them is ordered separately.
From the autumn of 1943 the Sd.Kfz. 250 was built with a simplified hull known as the neu. Instead of many faceted plates it had simpler shapes, which speeded up production and noticeably changed the silhouette of the vehicle. The reconnaissance version carried a 20 mm automatic cannon in a small turret with raised elevation, so it could fire at low-flying targets and at the crews of anti-tank weapons as well. The vehicle was lighter and more agile than the larger Sd.Kfz. 251 half-track and suited precisely the fast reconnaissance detachments, whose task is not to fight a long battle.
The inside of the open hull is clearly visible on this type, so finish the equipment of the fighting compartment before you attach the upper elements. Metal brackets and eyes will take bending into their real shape, which is not possible with plastic. A winter white finish tended to be applied in haste, and when painting it therefore looks credible with the base shade showing through.
