The BRDM-2 is a Soviet armored reconnaissance vehicle of the 1960s which replaced the earlier BRDM-1. It has a closed welded hull, four driven wheels and a small rotating turret with a heavy machine gun of 14.5 mm caliber and a coaxial machine gun of 7.62 mm. Two features made it an unusually capable vehicle across country. Between the axles sit additional lowerable wheels that help the vehicle over a ditch and over a ridge; and the hull is watertight, so the vehicle floats and moves through water on a jet of water forced out at the rear. The BRDM-2 was exported to dozens of countries, saw a range of local modifications and stayed in service for many decades.
A plastic kit in 1:35 scale, that is the most widespread size for military vehicles. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The extent of the parts, the number of marking options and any accessories are given in the instructions enclosed by the manufacturer.
Before gluing, remove surplus material and traces of manufacture from the parts, sand the mating faces and try the whole thing dry. On a wheeled vehicle, take care that all the wheels sit on the surface, otherwise the model visibly limps. The flattening of a tire always belongs at the bottom, against the ground. Apply the base shade evenly in several light coats and only then work with the dust and mud, which on a reconnaissance vehicle collects mainly around the wheels and on the lower edges of the hull.
Paints, glue and filler are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
