The supplementary photo-etched set Sturer Emil, part two, 1:35 scale follows on from the first package and covers further areas of the 12.8 cm self-propelled gun.

This supplementary metal set covers further areas of a model of the German heavy self-propelled gun and assumes that you are already working with the first part. Royal Model split the upgrade into two packages because the range of parts will not fit on a single one. The base remains a plastic kit, which the photo-etch only refines.
The weapon was derived from a heavy gun originally intended for fortress and anti-aircraft use, and its range far exceeded what ordinary tank guns could do. The drawbacks were the massive weight of the round, which the loaders had to handle in a tight space, and the small ammunition supply. The superstructure protected the crew only from the front and the sides, and from above it stayed open to the sky and to shell splinters.
Metal takes harder treatment than plastic, so a dry brush and a graphite pencil for rubbing the edges work well on it. Soot around the muzzle suits a dark pigment applied dry. Before painting, though, clean the brass, as fingerprints show through the finish as matte patches. A final matte varnish then levels the sheen of the metal with the surrounding plastic into a single surface.
The metal parts are supplied without paints, without glue and without the model itself.
