An extensive gift edition from Takom in 1:35 scale. In the box you will find two complete plastic kits and a printed Modelling Guide. The designation T-28² is a play on words for the pair of American super-heavy machines in one box: the historical T28 Super Heavy Tank and its hypothetical variant, the M28A1/A2 Super Assault Tank. A turned metal gun barrel, photo-etched parts and clear parts for the vision ports and lights are included.
The American T28 was designed at the end of the Second World War as a super-heavy assault vehicle for breaking through heavily fortified lines. It stood out for its exceptionally thick armor and its 105 mm gun; because of a weight of around 86 tons it ran on four tracks (the outer pair was removed for transport) and reached only a low speed. Only two prototypes were built. The M28A1/A2 is conceived as a speculative what-if version with a heavier gun that never left the drawing board.
Prepare the running gear and the tracks before you close the hull, because with a multi-track suspension it pays to work patiently. Use a thin modeling cement on the plastic and bond the small photo-etched parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). A primer coat and an airbrush are recommended. The tank is asking for weathering: washes into the recesses, filters to unify the tone and pigments for dust and mud on the running gear will bring out the volume and the realism.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
