T-34/85 Mod. 1960 in 1:35 scale from MiniArt

This injection-molded plastic kit from the Ukrainian brand MiniArt captures the postwar upgraded version of the Soviet T-34/85 tank to the Mod. 1960 standard in 1:35 scale. The set contains individual track links, photo-etched parts, clear parts and a decal sheet for several options. The hatches can be built open or closed. The model has selected internal features that make fitting a figure easier; it is not a full interior kit, though.

The real subject

The T-34/85 was the most widespread Soviet tank of the end of the Second World War and went through a series of upgrades in the postwar years. The Mod. 1960 version brought a new engine and further changes, and in this form the tank served for many decades in armies around the world.

Building and painting tips

Assemble the running gear and the hull first and prepare the individual tracks in sections. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic and the photo-etched parts with cyanoacrylate glue. For weathering use washes and pigments for dust and mud effects, and the hatches can be left open.
