An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary East German car Trabant 601 S in its rally form, in 1:35 scale from AK Interactive. The model captures the competition guise of this people's car with its sporting modifications and offers decals with rally markings. The boxing combines plastic parts with extras for a detailed rendering of the interior and the chassis.
The Trabant 601 was the most widespread passenger car of the former German Democratic Republic and a symbol of motoring in the Eastern Bloc. Its body used Duroplast - a pressed composite - and power came from a small two-stroke engine. Despite its modest figures the Trabant also appeared on competition stages, where it took on rally events in its own class. The rally 601 S version received additional lighting and competition equipment.
Glue the body with liquid modeling cement for plastic and sand the joints smooth. Apply a primer before painting and lay the finish on with an airbrush in thin coats. Apply the rally decals and the competition numbers on a smooth gloss base, and once dry you can fix them with a clear coat; a decal softener will help the transitions. Paint the interior, the chassis and the additional lighting separately and pick the details out with a subtle wash.
