About product

The chain drive of the rear axles of the Dragon Wagon tractor

The American tank transporter tractor had its rear axles driven by chains led from the transfer case to both sides of the chassis. This package renders that conspicuous element in 1:35 scale in the form of photo-etched sheet. Count on the chain being flat here, not three-dimensional: it arises from flat metal and is seated in place that way too.

The machine that towed tanks

The tractor nicknamed the Dragon Wagon came about so that the army would not have to move damaged tanks under their own power. A peculiarity of the chassis was the set of rear axles with chain transmission of power, which coped with rough ground and at the same time could be repaired with field means. The rig with its semitrailer could carry even a Sherman and became one of the most characteristic vehicles of the American rear on the Western Front.

Patience pays off

The long narrow strips like to twist, so hold them by the edge with fine pliers and never pull them by the middle. Before fixing, mark the path of the chain with a pencil, so that you have a line to follow. Anyone who wants a more three-dimensional impression can accentuate the part after gluing with a dark shade in the gaps between the links.

Who it is intended for

  • builders of American rear-area vehicles
  • those interested in recovery and salvage vehicles
  • modelers who want the chassis in detail
  • patient hands used to small metal parts

The package consists of metal parts; the tractor itself, glue and paints are not part of it.
