A figure of an American soldier of the Second World War period in 1:35 scale, captured at rest. Resting poses are among the most rewarding in a diorama: while a combat scene tempts you into exaggeration, a soldier on a break looks believable in itself and a viewer readily imagines a story around him.
It works beside a vehicle in 1:35 scale, on a vignette the size of two palms and as a complement to a larger scene where a row of standing figures needs breaking up. Beside a vehicle a figure also serves a practical purpose: it gives the model scale, so a viewer immediately realizes how big the machine actually is.
Cut the excess material and manufacturing marks off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest, proceeding especially carefully around the face. Before painting, wash and degrease the figure and apply a thin primer, otherwise the paint holds badly on the smooth surface. Paint in thin coats from the darkest shade toward the light, leaving the shadows in the folds of the cloth and pulling the highlights onto the edges. Muted olive and khaki tones suit the American field uniform of the period, and it benefits from fine soiling at the ankles and on the seat. Leave the face and hands for last and work on them in good light, as it is exactly by those that a well-made figure is recognized.
For diorama builders and for anyone who wants a figure beside a finished model in 1:35 scale to give the scene calm and scale. The number of parts, the scope of the set and the recommended procedure are given on the manufacturer's packaging.
The model of the vehicle, a base, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
