An injection-molded plastic set of figures of American soldiers in 1:35 scale from MiniArt. It captures infantry tank riders in the winter of 1944-1945 in poses as if they were sitting on the armor of a tank on the move. The soldiers are dressed in winter greatcoats, which makes them a natural choice for scenes from the Ardennes offensive (the Battle of the Bulge). It is not a vehicle model - the set contains the figures alone and is meant to bring a tank or a diorama to life.
Tank riding was common practice in the Second World War - infantry rode directly on the hulls of tanks to move quickly. In the bitter winter at the turn of 1944 and 1945, when the fighting in the Ardennes was going on on the Western Front, American soldiers wrapped themselves in long greatcoats and scarves and wore caps under their helmets. The figures hold infantry rifles and are complemented by period gear.
Carefully separate the small parts from the sprues and glue them with liquid cement for plastic; gently sand the mold seams on the greatcoats and the faces. Apply a base coat (primer) before painting. Winter greatcoats are rewarding for shading and dry-brushing techniques, which bring out the folds of the cloth; the faces benefit from layering flesh shades.
The set of figures is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a tank are not included in the package.
