A set of water-slide decals in 1:35 scale for the American armed truck (gun truck) M54 of the Vietnam War, carrying the nickname THE LIFER. The subject is the five-ton M54 truck, on whose bed the stripped hull of an M113 carrier served as armored superstructure. It is a decal set on its own, not a kit of the vehicle.
Gun trucks came about in Vietnam as improvisations to protect supply convoys from ambush. The crews lined the beds of trucks with armor plate and sandbags and fitted them with machine guns. The M54 truck with a stripped M113 hull was one of the most heavily armed solutions and the individual machines carried names and paintwork of their own, THE LIFER among them.
Apply them onto gloss varnish against silvering. Dip the decal briefly, slide it off the film into place and seat it. A softener will help it cling to the unevenness of the improvised armor, and a matte varnish will even the surface out at the end.
This is a decal set. The paints, the varnish and the model of the vehicle are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
