1:35 Wehrmacht Fuel Drums is a set of Vallejo fuel drums in 1:35 scale as used by the German ground army. It is not a kit but a scenic prop and cargo for vehicle models.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set is not a model of a vehicle but a set of small props in 1:35 scale. Fuel drums were ordinary equipment of supply units and in period photographs you will find them both on the beds of trucks and stacked loose beside roads and stores. The number of pieces in the package and the capacity of the drums are stated on the packaging of the set.
The most interesting use of these drums is as cargo directly on a model. An empty truck bed looks unfinished in a cabinet; a few lashed drums fill it and at the same time give the model scale and weight. The drums can be stacked upright or laid down, leaned against the sides or partly covered with a tarpaulin of thin fabric soaked in thinned glue.
To make the cargo look as if it belongs to the vehicle, unify it with the model using dust: use the same pigment on the underside of the vehicle and on the drums. Suggest the lashing with fine wire or thread soaked in thinned glue, and trim the fibers once dry. The metal surface of a drum stands out when you soften the base shade with a light brightening of the top surface and carefully draw the edges out with a graphite pencil — this gives an impression of polished metal without using a metallic paint, which would look coarse in this scale.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without a model of a vehicle or figures. Paints, glue and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
