The second welder pose in 1:35 scale is a standalone resin figure from the Italian brand Royal Model, following on from the first part of a numbered series.
Responsibility details are not available.
This figure cast in resin continues a scene the brand split into three separate numbers. Each of them captures a different posture, so they can be arranged side by side to obtain a believable group of people absorbed in one job. Royal Model gives the item as a single figure.
The repair groups of armored units were not there to build new machines but to return damaged ones to service. The commonest work was reinforcing and mending track links, welding on eyes, brackets and fittings torn off by a hit, closing cracks in exhaust covers or straightening crumpled fenders. Speed took precedence over the beauty of a weld: a machine that was back with its unit in two days was worth more than a perfectly repaired wreck towed to the rear.
Before you reach for the paint, run a finger over the casting against the light and find the mold parting line. It sands back with fine abrasive paper better now than after painting. The uniform benefits from a muted palette and several shades of the same color, so that the cloth does not look like plastic. The leather parts gain depth when you go over them with a dark wash once they have dried and lift the edges again with a dry brush.
