The follow-on package Wire Mesh Skirts Panzer IV Ausf. J Late, Part 2 completes the remaining mesh screens of the late Panzer IV. This is metal equipment for finishing a build. The set is intended for the Dragon kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The second package of the photo-etched series extends the mesh screens to the remaining positions on the vehicle. Without it the tank stays only partly fitted, because the Italian manufacturer has split the complete set into two separate packages and each of them deals with a different group of hangers. It is based on the dimensions of the Dragon kit.
The Drahtgeflechtschürzen appeared at the close of production of this type and replaced the heavier sheet-metal shields. The mesh caught a shaped charge before it settled onto the armor and at the same time let air and light through, so it got in the way of the crew's work less. The crews welcomed it mainly because of repairs: a torn net could be patched with wire right in the field, whereas shot-through sheet had to be replaced whole. That is precisely why period photographs from the last months of the war show vehicles with mesh patched in several places.
Warm the brass briefly over a flame; it will soften and will then not crack at a bend. First seat the hangers dry and compare their spacing with the hull, and only then fix them with a drop of thin cyanoacrylate glue. Spray the fine mesh in as thin a layer as possible: a heavy coat floods the openings and the whole effect disappears. Choose a sparing patina, so that the structure of the mesh stays visible.
The package does not contain the plastic base of the vehicle or modeling chemicals.
