This set is not a model of the vehicle but a photo-etched detail set in 1:35 scale from Voyager Model. It is intended for building the German VK1602 Leopard reconnaissance tank, including parts for a smoke discharger. The metal parts replace the coarser plastic items with faithful fenders, grilles, brackets and small details, which give a model crispness and a true sense of scale.
The VK1602 Leopard was a German project for a light reconnaissance tank of the Second World War period. It was designed around 1942 with markedly sloped armor inspired by the heavier types, but it never reached series production and remained at the prototype stage. For a modeler it is an interesting branch in the development of German armored vehicles that never went into action.
The photo-etched parts are separated with a sharp knife on a mat and bent over a metal ruler or in a bender. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or with two-part epoxy; cement for plastic does not hold on metal. Before painting it helps to degrease the parts and spray a base coat (a primer) for good paint adhesion.
This is a detail set, not a model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
