The 1:350 scale is at home above all with models of warships, so this aircraft serves mainly to populate the deck of an aircraft carrier, a diorama or a display case scene. It is not a standalone aircraft model of the usual size but a miniature completing a larger whole. The manufacturer is Trumpeter.
The SBD Dauntless was an American carrier dive bomber of the Second World War. Its distinguishing features were the perforated dive brakes on the wing, which allowed a safe descent at a steep angle, and the two-seat cockpit with an observer at the rear. The SBD-3 version was among the early production variants of the type and was operated both from the decks of aircraft carriers and from land bases.
Because of the size of the parts, work on a light surface and over a tray so that the small pieces are not lost. Cut the gates with a sharp scalpel and level the area with a fine file. Glue with liquid cement for plastic applied with a needle; for the smallest parts cyanoacrylate glue works well. Apply the paint thinly with an airbrush or a good brush, so that the surface relief is not lost. The inside of the cockpit only needs to be suggested with a dark shade. If the package contains decals, apply them onto a gloss base and use a softener. Even the overall impression out with matte varnish and very gentle picking out of the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
