Injection-molded plastic kit of the Russian Borodino class armored battleship in 1:350 scale from Zvezda. It is a model of a pre-dreadnought with a richly broken-up hull and superstructures; the box contains parts for the complete hull, decals, printed flags and a display stand. The model faithfully captures the characteristic silhouette of Russian armored ships of the early 20th century, with a high freeboard and a pair of main-caliber gun turrets.
Borodino was the lead ship of the armored battleship class of the same name in the Imperial Russian Navy. These ships formed the core of the Second Pacific Squadron sent to the Far East during the Russo-Japanese War. At the Battle of Tsushima in May 1905 the squadron was crushed by the Japanese fleet; Borodino blew up after a hit and sank with almost her entire crew. The real subject belongs to the significant, if tragic, chapters of naval history.
Glue the plastic with liquid cement and work in subassemblies. The hull can be built complete on the stand. Lay down a primer before the color coats and apply the paints with an airbrush; separate the dark side from the light superstructures with masking. The fine railings and rigging will show best once the panel lines are picked out and restrained salt-water weathering is added to the side of the hull.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
