About product

USS Hancock CV-19 1:350 (Trumpeter)

An extensive injection-molded plastic kit of the American aircraft carrier USS Hancock (CV-19) in 1:350 scale from Trumpeter. She is a ship of the long-hull group of the Essex class. The box contains a hull that can be built as a full hull or as a waterline version, a hangar deck and a flight deck, a set of carrier aircraft and a stand. Because of the number of small parts the kit is intended rather for more experienced modelers. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.

The real subject

USS Hancock (CV-19) was an American Essex class aircraft carrier in the version with a lengthened bow. She was one of the first completed long-hull ships of the class and fought in the war in the Pacific, where she carried a full carrier air group. The Essex class was the decisive force of American carrier aviation in the Second World War.

Building and painting tips

Plan the build in terms of the hull, the flight deck, the island superstructure and the aircraft. Glue the fine parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Handle the flight deck and the camouflage scheme with an airbrush and masks, and bring out the detail with a wash. The aircraft can be built with folded wings.

Who the model is for

  • Collectors of American aircraft carriers in 1:350
  • Anyone interested in the war in the Pacific and the Essex class
  • More experienced modelers, because of the number of small parts
  • Builders of large naval dioramas

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

Because of the number of small parts it is recommended rather to more experienced modelers. A beginner will manage it, but should allow for a build that takes time.

Yes, the hull can be assembled as a full hull or as a waterline version. A stand is included as well.
