1:48 A-7A/B/C/D Corsair II - weighted wheel set (3D Printed) is a printed set of wheels with flattening under the weight of the aircraft. It is an addition, not a model of an aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of wheels made by 3D printing for models of the American A-7 Corsair II carrier attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. It replaces the wheels from the kit and adds the flattening of the tire where it meets the ground. Printing at the same time draws out the tread pattern and the layout of the rim more crisply than an injection mold, which has to allow for a parting line across the middle of the wheel. The set is not a model of the aircraft; it is an addition to an existing kit.
The A-7 Corsair II was an American carrier attack aircraft derived from the F-8 Crusader fighter. The designers shortened the machine and dropped any supersonic ambition, gaining room for fuel and bombs in the process. The result was a subsonic carrier with a large load and, for its day, exceptionally accurate navigation and targeting equipment. The aircraft served the Navy as well as the US Air Force and its landing gear was sized for hard deck landings.
The printed parts are held on thin supports. Snip them off close to the part and level the face with a file or a scalpel. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting. Tone the tire with a dark gray with a hint of brown. Fit the wheels with the flattened face downwards, or the whole point of the set disappears and the wheel will look like a faulty casting.
This is an accessory, not a complete model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
