White Allied stars for models of military vehicles in 1:48, in the plain form as well as in the variant inside a circle.
Responsibility details are not available.
During the Second World War the white five-pointed star became the fastest way of recognizing an Allied vehicle from an aircraft as well as from the ground. It was painted on engine covers, on the sides of the body and on roofs, so that friendly aircraft would catch sight of it. That very good visibility, though, turned against the crews, because a bright device served enemy gunners as a convenient aiming point.
The answer was a change in which a circle was drawn around the star and the points were often partly smeared with mud or sprayed over. This sheet offers both forms side by side, so you can choose the plain star as well as the variant with a circle according to what period and what theater you want to capture. The set is carried among the markings for ground vehicles, which is where it belongs by what it is meant for.
On the rough surface of a vehicle casting a decal holds worse than on a smooth aircraft, so apply a layer of gloss coat under the motif and use a stronger softener once it has dried. Stars on engine covers tend to be weathered, so it pays to sand them lightly once settled and to dust them with pigment. On the vertical walls of the body settle the star according to period photographs, because the placement differed quite a bit between individual types of vehicle. This item holds neither the model of a vehicle nor paints; it is the markings alone.
