A pair of resin 600 lb Mk.VIII anti-submarine bombs in 1:48 scale from CMK. The heavier variant of British anti-submarine armament for aircraft models.
Responsibility details are not available.
The package contains two pieces of a resin anti-submarine bomb of British origin designated Mk.VIII in the 600 pound weight class, in 1:48 scale. It is an accessory to an aircraft model, not an airplane kit.
The weight class is the distinguishing figure for aircraft ordnance: the 600 lb bomb is longer and bulkier than the 500 lb variant in the same family, so the way it hangs and the spacing on the rack differ as well. Anti-submarine bombs had a stubby body optimized for entering the water from low altitude. What matters to the modeler is that they differ in shape from the ordinary aircraft bombs that come with most kits, so the two cannot simply be swapped.
The resin casting of the bomb is fairly heavy, which makes it easy to handle but raises the risk of chipping an edge if it is dropped. Work over a soft surface. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw and level the remainder by wet sanding: wet sandpaper does not raise dust, and resin dust must not be breathed in; for longer sessions put a respirator on and wipe the bench with a damp cloth afterward. Wash the parts in soapy water before painting so that the paint holds. For spraying, a wire holder pushed into the hole left by the casting block works well: you can paint the bomb from every side at once and set it aside in a stand without fingerprints. Given the weight of the casting, glue it to the model only after painting, with cyanoacrylate glue and a short hold until the joint sets.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
