Eduard SPACE 1:48 — Bell AH-1Z Viper is a detail set for the Hobby 2000 kit: 3D-printed color instrument and control panels on decal carrier paper plus pre-painted steel photo-etch with seat belts. This is not a kit, but a cockpit add-on.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is NOT a helicopter kit. It is a detail set from Eduard, which you buy in addition to the Hobby 2000 plastic AH-1Z Viper model. The SPACE line combines two things: the main and side instrument and control panels printed with 3D technology on decal carrier paper — they have real depth and are already colored at the factory — plus a small pre-painted steel photo-etched part with seat belts and small details that cannot be made in 3D. On a modern attack helicopter with a cockpit full of displays and controls, this is the fastest route to a convincing interior.
The Bell AH-1Z Viper is an American attack helicopter of the US Marine Corps and a direct successor to the older AH-1W Super Cobra. It was developed under the H-1 family modernization program and carries the typical family trait of the whole Cobra line: a very narrow fuselage and a tandem cockpit, where the gunner sits in front and the pilot sits behind and above. Compared with its predecessor, it received a new four-blade composite rotor, fully digital avionics with a glass cockpit, and a modern targeting system. It replaced the AH-1W in Marine Corps service in 2020.
Moisten the backing paper under the 3D panel with a sponge and a drop of dish soap, lift the panel off with tweezers and set it in place; it has no adhesive layer of its own, so fix it with white glue — the manufacturer does not recommend cyanoacrylate on the decals. Do not use a decal softener, as the chemicals will damage the printed resin. The relief is printed directly into the part — set it down and press gently, but do not force it into shape. Separate the photo-etched part with a knife on a cutting mat or photo-etch scissors; tearing it off by hand will deform it. For bends, use a photo-etch bending tool, or the jaws of flat pliers or the edge of a ruler — steel photo-etch is springy and hard, you cannot bend it cleanly with your fingers, and the factory paint can crack at a sharp bend, so run the belts in gentle curves. Fix the steel belts with cyanoacrylate; ordinary cement for plastic does not work on metal. If you do repaint any part, degrease it first — paint will not hold on greasy metal.
An add-on detail set, not a kit. The plastic model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
