An injection-molded plastic model of the Airco (de Havilland) D.H.9 Ambulance in 1:48 scale from the Roden brand. It is the ambulance conversion of the well known two-seat D.H.9 bomber - a compartment for a stretcher with a casualty was built into the fuselage. The model offers a detailed cockpit, clear parts and a bracing diagram.
The ambulance D.H.9 came about by converting withdrawn D.H.9 bombers into air ambulances. A compartment for carrying a casualty on a stretcher was fitted into the rear fuselage, reached through a separate door. Machines converted in this way served mainly after the First World War, among other things in colonial operations in remote regions, where they made it possible to evacuate casualties quickly from difficult terrain. It is therefore not a combat aircraft but a medical variant.
Glue the parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and strengthen the thin struts with cyanoacrylate glue. First set the interplane struts symmetrically, then tension the bracing wires from stretched sprue or an elastic thread according to the diagram. It pays to paint the interior of the ambulance compartment before closing the fuselage. Bring the fabric surfaces to life with fine shading.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
