A drinking fountain in 1:48 scale is a small resin accessory for dioramas that will fill the corner of a square or a wall by a road.
Responsibility details are not available.
Public drinking fountains belonged to southern and central Europe as self-evidently as a bench or a stone guard post, and yet they are almost never found in models. This small casting in 1:48 scale fills that gap. You set it at the corner of a house, in the shade of a wall or at the edge of a yard, where figures can stop at it.
Municipalities built cast-iron or stone drinking fountains from the nineteenth century on, so that a passer-by and a draft animal alike had somewhere to drink. The shapes differed from one place to another; what they had in common was a massive post, a tap and a shallow basin. In country areas water supplies were drawn from them until mains water was brought into the houses, so the same object suits scenes from the first and from the second half of the twentieth century.
The casting is small, so fix it to a skewer or a brush handle first, to make it workable. After removing the casting block, sand the area and degrease the surface. Stone is best done with a light base coat, a dark wash shade into the joints and a fine dusting of pigment at the foot. The metal of the tap comes out best if you leave it in a darker tone with a greenish hint of verdigris.
This is a standalone accessory; paints, putties and glue are not supplied.
