The Republic F-105 Thunderchief was an American fighter-bomber that made its greatest mark in history through its deployment in Southeast Asia. The two-seat F-105F and F-105G versions had their crew in two cockpits placed one behind the other, with the F-105G machines adapted for suppressing enemy air defenses. The figures capture male members of the flying personnel standing, that is as you know them from photographs taken by the aircraft before takeoff or after returning from a mission.
This set of figures in 1:48 scale is built to complete a finished model, a diorama or a display case. The designation type 2 sets this pose of the figures apart from the other poses offered in the same line, so that the sets can be combined and the scene does not look repetitive. The exact make-up of the package is given by the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut away the excess material and the traces of manufacture with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder carefully, so that the surface of the folds does not disappear. Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; with parts that are not polystyrene, cyanoacrylate glue works well. Wash and degrease the figures before painting. Working from a base coat through the large areas of clothing to the face and the small details works well; a final fine toning of the folds draws out the texture of the fabric and the figure stops looking flat.
The figures will be appreciated by modelers who want to show scale and a story with a finished aircraft, and by builders of airfield scenes. They are supplied to complete a model or a diorama; paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
