This set is NOT an airplane model but a pair of 3D-printed resin figures in 1:48 scale. The pilots are posed standing (the scene 2 variant) and serve to bring dioramas and scenes around a model of the F-14 Tomcat fighter to life.

The real subject

The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is an American two-seat carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing, operated above all by the US Navy. The crew wear a flight suit, a survival vest and a helmet. The figures capture crew members in a standing, natural pose beside the machine.

Building and painting tips

Wash the resin figures to remove print resin residue, cut the print supports off carefully and clean the surfaces up with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Lay down a primer and paint the figures with a brush; finish the faces and the equipment with layered paint and fine shadows.
