A resin, 3D-printed detail set from the manufacturer Reskit in 1:48 scale. This is not an aircraft model but an accessory (an aftermarket set) which replaces the air intakes on the F/A-18 Hornet kit in the A, B, C and D versions from the manufacturer Hasegawa. The set is intended for more advanced modelers who want to raise the realism of their Hornet. To use it you need the base Hasegawa plastic kit — that is not included in the package.
The original intake ducts in plastic kits tend to be simplified and joined from several parts with visible seams. The 3D-printed air intakes offer finer, more faithfully shaped duct geometry and a smoother inner surface, which sharpens up a key visual area of the front of the aircraft and makes cleaning up the joints simpler.
First wash the parts in lukewarm water with a detergent so that residues of uncured print resin are removed. Cut the print supports off carefully with a sharp blade and sand the surfaces. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate), because ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on resin. Use respiratory protection when sanding and cutting and work in a ventilated area. Apply a primer before painting.
This is an accessory (a detail set), not a model in its own right. To use it the base Hasegawa kit is necessary, and it is not included in the package. Paints and glue are not enclosed.
