Photo-etched engine grilles for the Tiger I tank in 1:48 scale from Aber. A set of photo-etched metal parts; it is not a model.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains photo-etched engine compartment grilles for a model of the German Tiger I heavy tank in 1:48 scale. It is not a tank kit but an accessory. Thin brass grilles replace solid or merely suggested plastic parts and create a realistic look for the vents above the engine, through which the inside of the hull shows. The manufacturer is the Polish brand Aber.
The Tiger I was a German heavy tank of the Second World War armed with an 88 mm gun. On the upper rear armor plate it had prominent cooling and ventilation grilles for the engine compartment, and rendering them faithfully is one of the typical marks of a well-built model. Photo-etched grilles have an incomparably finer and more accurate structure than plastic.
Remove the plastic grille parts from the model or fit the etched parts in their place. Shape the etched parts lightly and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Spray the metal with a primer before painting. For a sense of depth, a darker background showing through the mesh works well.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The tank model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
