This is a precisely turned metal barrel of the short 75mm KwK 37 gun (StuK 37 in its self-propelled form) of L/24 length for a model of the German StuG III Ausf.B assault gun in 1:48 scale. It is not a model but a replacement part that takes the place of the plastic barrel from the original kit. The metal barrel has no parting seam from gluing two halves together and offers a perfectly round profile with a hollowed muzzle. The manufacturer is the Polish brand Aber.
The StuG III Ausf.B was an early version of the successful German assault gun on the chassis of the Panzer III tank. It carried the short low-velocity 75mm StuK 37 L/24 howitzer, intended primarily for direct fire support of infantry. The short barrel with its characteristic profile is a striking feature of the whole vehicle.
Cut the plastic barrel off the model and fit the metal replacement. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or epoxy. Spray the metal surface with a primer before painting, so that the paint holds well. The barrel muzzle comes into its own with a gentle darkening.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The model itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
