An accessory set of resin landing gear wheels for a model of the H-47 Chinook heavy transport helicopter in 1:48 scale from the Ukrainian maker Reskit. Please note that it is not a model of the helicopter: these are replacement wheels for improving a kit.
The Chinook, the famous American transport helicopter with its pair of tandem rotors, stands on fixed wheeled landing gear that carries the whole silhouette of the machine. It is exactly the wheels that tend to be the weak point of kits, split parts with a seam down the middle of the tread and a soft rendering of the hubs. Resin castings offer one-piece tires and crisply cast hubs, so once they are changed the model looks noticeably more convincing on a base and in a diorama alike.
Before use, wash the castings free of the remains of the mold release agent, cut off the casting gates and sand the cut areas down. Use cyanoacrylate glue for gluing and prime the parts before painting. Paint the tires a dark gray with a matte finish, the hubs according to the particular machine, and unify everything with a light wash. On a transport machine a light dusting with pigments also suits: Chinooks land wherever they are needed.
This is an accessory set: the base model of the helicopter is not included in the package.
