A set of 3D printed color decals for detailing the cockpit interior in 1:48 scale from Eduard. It is not an airplane model but an accessory (a detail set) intended for the Handley Page Hampden B Mk.I kit from ICM. To use it you need the base Hampden kit: this set does not replace it, it only improves it.
Unlike ordinary decals, 3D decals have real relief and a full-color print, so they faithfully imitate the instrument panel and the side consoles of the cockpit, including the instruments, the controls and the lettering. They take the place of laborious painting and of dry transfers for small details and lift the look of the interior markedly, which on the glazed cockpit of the Hampden is clearly visible.
First clean and degrease the surfaces the decals are going onto, so that they hold well. Cut the individual elements out with a sharp knife, moisten only the backing paper beneath them (do not dip the sheet in water), lift the element off with tweezers, settle it in place and fix it with white PVA glue; do not use cyanoacrylate glue or a decal softener, as they would attack the printed layer. Because the decals are pre-printed in color, there is no need to repaint them: they come out on their own, and at most they can be accentuated lightly with a thin wash and flattened.
