An injection-molded plastic kit of the German jet flying wing Horten Ho 229 A-1 in 1:48 scale from Dragon. Besides the plastic parts, the box holds a photo-etched fret for the fine details and two engines with detailed engine bays. Thanks to the flying-wing shape the Ho 229 is an unusual and attractive subject; check the exact package contents against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Horten Ho 229, also known as the Gotha Go 229, was a German jet flying-wing project from the last months of the Second World War. It was one of the first designs for an aircraft without a conventional fuselage and tail surfaces, powered by two jet engines. By the end of the war it had reached only the prototype and test-flying stage and never entered operational service, so the aircraft remains a futuristic symbol of the advanced but unfinished designs of its time.
Cut the parts off the sprues and glue them with liquid cement for plastic, and fix the photo-etched details with cyanoacrylate glue. Paint and pick out the cockpit and the engine bays before closing them up, and mask the clear canopy while spraying. Apply a primer and the colors with an airbrush; the smooth surfaces of a flying wing call for careful sanding of the seams. Pick out the panel lines with a subtle wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
