A Reskit resin set with two Kh-58U missiles and AKU-58 ejector launchers in 1:48 scale. An accessory for aircraft models, not an airplane kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This Reskit resin set in 1:48 scale contains two Kh-58U missiles together with AKU-58 ejector launchers. It is not an airplane model but a set of external stores to be fitted to a finished kit. The castings offer accurate shapes for the missile body, thin fins and a cleanly executed launcher, which are exactly the features that are usually missing or only hinted at on the molded parts of the base kit.
The Kh-58U is an anti-radiation guided missile of Soviet origin, known in the Western code system as Kilter. It was carried by tactical machines equipped for the suppression of air defenses, for example the Su-24M or the MiG-25BM, and precisely on the AKU-58 ejector launcher, so the pairing of missile and launcher matches the real arrangement. For the modeler it is a store that pins down the role of the machine and the period in which it served, so it suits building a particular version from documentation.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water so that no mold release agent is left on them. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and level the surfaces with abrasive paper; the thin fins are fragile, so handle them with care. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), and on heavier stores it pays to strengthen the joint with a small metal pin. Lay down a filler primer before spraying. Bring out the transitions between the missile body and the seeker head with a fine wash, and mask the color bands rather than painting them freehand. Keep the weathering restrained.
This is an add-on set, not an airplane model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
