An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern German main battle tank Leopard 2 A7V in 1:35 scale from Tamiya. The set captures the newest production version of the Leopard 2 with its characteristic angular headlights, the add-on armor plate on the front of the hull and the revised shape of the turret bustle. The box contains photo-etched parts for faithful mesh on the engine grilles and the side baskets of the turret, and two half figures of the crew (the commander and the loader) with a choice of a head with a helmet or with a beret.
The Leopard 2 A7V is an improvement of the A7 version (the letter V stands for verbessert, meaning improved). It brings additional armor on the front of the hull and side skirts for better protection. It carries over the 120 mm L/55 gun, but thanks to modernized ammunition it can hit armored targets at long range. Deliveries of A7V tanks to the German army began in 2021.
It is best to assemble and paint the running gear before you close up the hull. Glue the parts with thin modeling cement for plastic and use cyanoacrylate on the photo-etched elements. Lay down a primer before painting, spray with an airbrush and use washes and pigments (mud and dust effects) to bring out the details and the weathering. The track links are done as one-piece straight sections, which makes the build easier.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
