Plastic kit of the Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II combat aircraft in 1:48 scale, in Royal Netherlands Air Force markings.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-35A Lightning II is an American single-engine combat aircraft built with reduced observability in mind. The A version takes off from and lands on a conventional runway and is the most widespread of the whole family. It carries its weapons in internal bays so as not to spoil its shape, and its strength lies as much in electronics and information sharing as in flying qualities. The Royal Netherlands Air Force is one of its European operators, and machines in Dutch markings are a rewarding subject precisely because they differ from the gray standard only in details.
This is a plastic kit in 1:48 scale, a size where the cockpit interior and the landing gear bays are within reach too. The model is glued and painted; it is not supplied finished. The release comes in Royal Netherlands Air Force markings; the range of parts, the decals and the recommended shades are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The smooth upper surface of the aircraft is unforgiving: dry-fit the parts, fill the seams and sand them until the transitions cannot be felt under a finger. Lay the paint in thin coats over a uniform base, otherwise the gray shade will go blotchy. Do not overdo the panel line highlighting; on the real machine the lines are barely visible, so a fine application of thinned darker paint wiped off straight away is better than sharp drawing. Mask the canopy glazing and spray the frames with the interior shade first.
A kit is supplied. Paints, glue and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
