Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a/U4 1:48 from Hobby Boss - an injection-molded plastic kit of the first combat jet fighter in the bomber destroyer version with a massive 50 mm cannon in the nose.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German jet fighter Messerschmitt Me 262 A-1a/U4 in 1:48 scale from Hobby Boss. This version differs from the standard Me 262 in the massive 50 mm cannon placed in the nose of the fuselage. The model has finely engraved panel lines and riveting, a well-appointed cockpit, a detailed central landing gear bay, a weapons compartment with the cannon rendered and separate doors, engines and clear glazing.
The Me 262 was the first jet fighter in the world to be committed to combat. The A-1a/U4 version was an experimental modification intended to destroy formations of heavy bombers: instead of the standard four 30 mm cannons it carried a single massive 50 mm cannon in the nose. The aim was to destroy bombers from a safe distance with one accurate shot. Only a few prototypes of this variant were created, so it is among the rare bomber destroyers of the closing stage of the Second World War.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife and glue them with thin liquid cement for plastic. Finish the cockpit and the cannon compartment and pick them out with a wash before closing the fuselage; thanks to the separate doors the nose cannon can be shown exposed. Mask the glazing for crisp framing. Spray the mottled German camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats over primer and bring it to life with a panel wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
