Injection-molded plastic kit of the German Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4 fighter in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Zvezda. It is a modern, richly broken-up mold with engraved panel lines, a finely rendered engine, a well worked-out cockpit and a pilot figure. The model lets you expose the powerplant to good effect. Take the exact number of parts and decal schemes from the instruction sheet in the box.
The Friedrich version was the aerodynamically refined peak of Bf 109 development. The Bf 109F-4 of the early 1940s received the more powerful Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine and concentrated armament on the fuselage centerline - a cannon firing through the propeller hub and two machine guns above the engine. Cleaner wing and cowling shapes gave it better flying qualities than the earlier Emils. It was deployed on every front and leading German fighter pilots flew it.
The richly broken-up parts reward patience - assemble and paint the engine and the cockpit before you close up the fuselage, and mask the glazing. Decide in advance whether you will leave the engine cowlings open. Use thin liquid cement on the plastic and a primer before painting. Spray the typical mottled camouflage and the blotches on the fuselage sides with an airbrush, and apply the decals over a gloss clear coat with a decal softener. Pick the panel lines out with a dark wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
