A set of masks of the O-max line for a model of the MiG-17F fighter in 1:48 scale, prepared for the Kinetic kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MiG-17 grew out of the MiG-15 but was given a thinner and more sharply swept wing and a longer fuselage, so it behaved more confidently at high speeds. The F version was the most widespread and had an engine with an afterburner. It flew with the Soviet Air Force and with dozens of other users and became one of the most widespread jet fighters of its day. For a modeler it is a machine with prominent glazing and glossy surfaces, where unsuccessful masking shows up at once.
The masks in 1:48 scale are prepared for the MiG-17F kit from Kinetic. They are cut to shape, so you do not have to cut them out of tape and the transition between the covered area and the paint comes out sharp along its whole length. Which parts of the model the set covers is stated in the manufacturer's instructions; use them to plan the order of the coats as well.
First wash and degrease the surface you are applying the mask to, otherwise the mask will not hold and paint will run underneath it. Lift the individual pieces off the sheet with the tip of a knife or with tweezers and press them down all around. First spray over the covering with the interior shade or a primer and only then with the top color; any paint that runs underneath then stays in the shade that belongs there. Remove the mask shortly after the finish has dried, because with fully cured paint the edge tears away easily.
The set of masks alone is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
