A Reskit decal set for the MiG-25PDS interceptor, 1:48 takes in three Ukrainian machines marked Red 17, Red 87 and Red 89, and service markings with them.
Responsibility details are not available.
On the sheet you will find the markings of three machines at once, listed under the numbers Red 17, Red 87 and Red 89. The set is built to cover the whole model, including the small warning and service markings that run the full length of the fuselage and over the tanks on a Foxbat. It is supplied on its own, with no plastic parts.
While the reconnaissance versions carried cameras, this one belonged to the purely interceptor machines. The abbreviation PD marks the modernized rendition with a new onboard radar and more powerful engines, and the suffix S marks machines that came about by converting older airframes rather than by new production. The task was a rapid climb to great altitude and a hit on a target at long range, for which the machine carried heavy air-to-air missiles. In 1991 Ukraine inherited an extensive fleet of Soviet equipment, and the interceptor Foxbats formed a prominent item in it.
Soviet gray shades change their tone a great deal according to the sheen, so try the mixed paint on an offcut and judge it only once it has dried. Do the metal surfaces around the exhaust nozzles separately, best with a metallic shade laid over a smooth black base.
