Injection-molded plastic model of the American fighter aircraft Bell P-39Q Airacobra in 1:48 scale from the Polish brand Hobby 2000. This boxing focuses on aircraft in United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) service. Hobby 2000 uses a proven injection mold from Eduard, to which it adds its own decal sheet; check the exact package contents against the manufacturer's part number.
The P-39 Airacobra was an unusually configured fighter. Its Allison V-1710 engine sat in the middle of the fuselage behind the pilot and drove the propeller through a long extension shaft. This layout allowed a 37 mm cannon to be mounted on the propeller axis, firing straight through the propeller hub. The aircraft also had a nose landing gear (one of the first American fighters to do so). The P-39Q, the most numerous production version, carried underwing gun pods with heavy 12.7 mm machine guns. Besides the USAAF, the type was also supplied in large numbers to Allied nations, though this model focuses on aircraft in American markings.
Glue the plastic parts with a thin liquid cement for plastic, filling and sanding the joints as needed. Apply a primer before painting and spray the colors with an airbrush in thin coats. A wash will bring out the panel lines and details; the metal surfaces and exhausts can be highlighted with shading. Apply the decals over a gloss surface and seal them with varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
