1:48 P-47D-30RE THUNDERBOLT. BASIC KIT is a plastic kit of the American fighter-bomber Republic P-47D-30RE Thunderbolt in 1:48 scale from the Ukrainian maker MiniArt, in the basic level of packaging.

This injection-molded kit in 1:48 scale captures the late production version P-47D-30RE with a bubble canopy. The suffix RE denotes production at the plant in Farmingdale, unlike the machines with the suffix RA from Evansville, which MiniArt offers as a separate release. The designation Basic Kit is the lower of the two levels of packaging in which MiniArt releases this family of Thunderbolts; the richer one carries Advanced Kit in its name.
The P-47 Thunderbolt was one of the heaviest and most robust single-engine fighters of the Second World War. It is powered by the R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine from the Pratt and Whitney company with a turbocharger, whose air ducting takes up a substantial part of the fuselage behind the cockpit. The armament consists of eight heavy machine guns in the wing. The D-30 series received dive recovery flaps under the wing and modified pylons, thanks to which the Thunderbolt became an exceptionally effective fighter-bomber of the end of the war over Western Europe.
Finish the cockpit and the inside of the forward part of the fuselage before you join the fuselage halves, because once it is closed there will be no access to them. On late machines in natural metal a very smooth base and metal shades mixed panel by panel work well, so that the surfaces do not look uniform. Lay the decals on a gloss clear and keep the traces of use rather restrained.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
