An extra from the Kelik brand for the pilot's space of the Thunderbolt in the version with the raised fuselage spine, 1:48 scale. The package contains a decal film with a three-dimensional relief that you stick onto the plastic parts of a kit. The model of the aircraft, the paints and the glue are not part of it. The kit concerned is the Tamiya one.
The Republic P-47D was among the heaviest single-engine fighters of the war. A turbosupercharged radial engine, a robust airframe and eight machine guns made an outstanding machine of it for escorting bombers as well as for attacks on ground targets. The older execution had a full spine superstructure behind the cockpit, for which the designation razorback took hold among modelers. It is precisely this silhouette that is today among the most popular variants of the type.
First spray the inside of the cockpit with base paint and varnish it with gloss varnish. Separate the individual motifs with a sharp scalpel, soak them and carry them to the place. Settle the relief with a cotton swab so that it seats over its whole area, and draw the surplus water off. Avoid strong pressure, which could deform the raised parts. Varnish the finished cockpit matte and run any wash only into the hollows.
