P-51 D/K Mustang, part 1 is a decal sheet in 1:48 scale from KAGERO with markings for the American North American P-51D and P-51K fighters. An accessory to a model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet in 1:48 scale focused on the P-51D and P-51K versions of the North American Mustang fighter. According to the name this is the first part. A model is not included in the package: the decals are applied to a finished and painted Mustang kit of the matching version in the same scale.
The P-51D is the best-known form of the Mustang: a bubble canopy with a view in every direction, a cut-down fuselage spine and a license-built Packard Merlin engine with a two-stage supercharger, thanks to which the aircraft kept its performance at high altitude. The P-51K version differs from it in a detail unrelated to the airframe, above all the propeller; it came from a different factory and carried a propeller of a different make, which is clearly visible on a model. Both versions flew at the same time and were commonly mixed within units, so a sheet covering both makes sense.
The Mustang is often built in bare metal, and that is exactly where decals are most sensitive. Whether you have a metal or a painted surface beneath them, it must be smooth and glossy: coat a painted area with gloss varnish and let it dry thoroughly. Cut the decal out closely, soak it in lukewarm water, let the film release from the paper and slide it into place. Press the water out with a cotton bud from the center toward the edges. Over engraved lines, rivets and the transition onto the wing use a softener and then leave the decal alone until it is dry. Finally varnish the area; on a metal surface choose a varnish that does not knock the shine back needlessly.
An accessory to a model. The kit, paints and varnish are not included, unless stated otherwise.
