This item is not an airplane kit, but a detailed accessory set from the SPACE line by Czech manufacturer Eduard. It combines 3D-printed decals with a raised, sculptural surface and painted photo-etched parts. The set is designed to upgrade the rear part of the fuselage interior of the PBY-5A Catalina flying boat in 1:48 scale and is intended for Eduard and Revell kits. The base model must be purchased separately.

Use

• Upgrades the rear fuselage compartment, which is clearly visible through the Catalina's large observation windows — that is exactly where an empty interior stands out the most.
• The 3D decals are applied as wet decals onto a smooth, cleanly painted surface; thanks to the layered printing, the detail looks sculptural even without laborious painting. Do not add decal softener or setting solution to them, as it would damage the printed resin.
• The painted photo-etched parts are glued with cyanoacrylate or thin liquid photo-etch adhesive; make bends on a bending tool or over a sharp edge.
• Apply the parts before closing the fuselage — once the halves are glued together, you can no longer reach the rear section.
• Finally, it is worth applying a spot coat of matte varnish to blend the sheen of the decals with the surrounding paint.

For modelers building the 1:48 PBY-5A Catalina who want to raise the level of the interior without having to cut and scratch-build details from nothing. Working with photo-etched parts and decals requires patience and a steady hand, so we recommend the set mainly to more experienced builders. Complete beginners may find applying the small parts difficult.
