PBY-5A Catalina: masks for the Stars & Bars national insignia (1:48): self-adhesive Eduard stencils for spraying the later type of the American insignia. For Eduard and Revell kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit but a set of self-adhesive masks for spraying the American national insignia on a model of the PBY-5A Catalina flying boat in 1:48 scale. They are made by Eduard, the Czech manufacturer from Obrnice near Most. The set is intended for Catalina kits from both Eduard and Revell.
An insignia sprayed through a mask looks like part of the paint: no translucent film, no silvering (trapped bubbles under a decal) and nothing that lifts in time. On large areas, such as the insignia on the fuselage and the wings, it is a cleaner and more durable solution than a decal.
This set holds the Stars & Bars, that is, the later type of insignia introduced from the middle of 1943: a blue disc with a white star flanked by white bars and an outline (red at first, blue from the autumn of 1943). For earlier machines (up to 1942) there is a separate set with the star with a red center; pick according to the period you are building, so that the insignia match the date.
The set contains masks only. Paints (blue, white, red), the kit and glue are not included in the package.
